Dunafon Castle

Dunafon Castle is a one-of-a-kind event center that is settled in the Bear Creek Canyon and located six miles west of Morrison town and 15 miles west of Denver. Laying on a peninsula, the castle crows the crystal clear water and the most magnificent views of Bear Creek. The 17 acres castle includes trails ideal for hiking, mountain biking, and walking.

Between 1929 and 1941, the castle was constructed by Marcus Wright. It has its own electricity generator facility which uses a water wheel since electricity is not accessible in the canyon.

The castle is available for site visits, events, and weddings from the 2nd weekend of May to the 2nd weekend of October. It also supports a program and provides help and temporary housing for addicted homeless men.

Green Mountain or William Frederick Hayden Park is the second-largest park in Lakewood with more than 2,400 acres of open space. Bear Creek Lake Park is located in the foothills between Morrison and Lakewood and is centered around Big Soda Lake, Little Soda Lake, and Bear Creek Lake. The main attractions in the lake park include boating, fishing, and biking. Motorized boating is also open in the largest lake and private boats are open in the Little Soda Lake. It offers rentals for canoe, kayak, paddleboard, and paddleboat. The Water Ski School provides camps and a variety of lessons.
